ALBUQUERQUE—2006—Even national performers have been known to mangle it…but if you can spangle it, consider auditioning to sing the national anthem during the 2006 New Mexico State Fair!
Auditions will be held in the lobby of Tingley Coliseum on Friday afternoon, August 4th and Saturday morning, August 5th and are open primarily to solo performers or small groups who can sing “The Star Spangled Banner” a cappella. A committee of five judges will select the different winners who will be singing at the seven rodeo concerts and the “Dollar Rodeo” during this year’s fair. (The 69th annual New Mexico State Fair starts Friday, September 8th and runs through Sunday, September 24th.)
To schedule an audition appointment, please call Sabrina Garza in the Expo New Mexico events office at 505 265-1791, extension 324.
P.S. An historical note: This year marks the 75th anniversary of “The Star-Spangled Banner” being proclaimed the national anthem of the United States following a 20-year effort during which more than 40 bills and joint resolutions were introduced in Congress.
