Sampler Exposes Local Talent to National Audience
Albuquerque, NM – A music sampler recently released nationwide by McDonald’s contains some familiar names in the national music market. The sampler, called The After After Party, boasts tracks from international superstars as well as up-and-coming artists from all over the country. However, New Mexico’s local talent benefits most from the national exposure of the sampler.
The After After Party is a music sampler both in CD and downloadable format released two months ago by The Arkiteks Music Group, an Albuquerque-based music production and promotion agency, with the support of Bungalo Records and the Universal Music Group in Los Angeles. The Arkiteks put together the sampler as a means to highlight the music of established acts across the nation and to expose audiences nationwide to New Mexico’s up-and-coming musicians.
“We are proud to take part in the promotion of many great New Mexico musicians,” explains Marco Nunez, co-founder of The Arkiteks Music Group. “It’s great to see New Mexico artists getting the same kind of recognition as the superstars. It’s certainly something that New Mexico can take pride in.”
With over 500,000 downloads and samplers given away so far, The After After Party reaches audiences all over the United States. Though the sampler contains nationally recognized and major label artists, New Mexico-based musicians or artists with ties to New Mexico are predominant on the sampler. Some New Mexico artists on the sampler include The James Douglas Show, David Wade, Leah Black, The Rudy Boy Experiment, Valdez, Sol Fire, Shauntel, Hit By a Bus, Soular, David Nunez and several others. These New Mexico artists join other artists on the sampler from different parts of the country including NAACP Image Award and Essence Award nominees Martin’s Favor, singer and Maxim cover girl Miss Issa, award-winning R&B singer and songwriter Honore’, and several others.
“Over the past eight years, The Arkiteks Music Group has brought great projects to the Bungalo/Universal Family,” says Paul Ring, CEO of Bungalo Records, a division of the Universal Music Group in Los Angeles. “The After After Party campaign has helped tremendously in exposing our artists.”
The success of the first edition of The After After Party music sampler prompted McDonald’s to sponsor and release a second sampler. The second edition of The After After Party is slated for release in late June, and will include many of the New Mexico artists featured on the first sampler including The James Douglas Show, David Wade, The Rudy Boy Experiment, and Hit By a Bus. The sampler will also include a track from Albuquerque native and current R&B star, A.B. However, the sampler’s success has also prompted many of Hollywood’s biggest stars to partake in the second edition of The After After Party. Thus, the second sampler will feature New Mexico’s artists alongside music superstars such as J.Lo, Janet Jackson, Wicked Wisdom (Jada Pinkett-Smith’s metal band), Ill Nino, and more.
“The After After Party is not sensitive to any particular genre of music,” explains Marco Nunez. “The sampler has everything from aggressive rock to smooth R&B and everything in between. It has great music from a diverse array of artists that deserve to be heard, and the fact that a good portion of that music was made in New Mexico makes it that much more rewarding for everyone involved.”
The first edition of The After After Party is currently available to order or download online. The sampler can also be obtained by ordering a Value Meal after 6:00 PM at participating McDonald’s Restaurants nationwide. The sampler is free of charge, including postage.
